The 1st Annual Maui Electric Company's Fishing Tournament was held at the Kaanapali Resort on Saturday September 19th, 2009.
The Tournament was held in conjunction with the Maui United Way Agency. Kaanapali Resort, Maui United Way (MUW) is an umbrella agency helping many of Maui's Non-Profits to continue helping Maui County Residents through the many agencies that receive help and funding from MUW.
MUW's operation is almost entirely dependent on donations received by the many companies and employees that contribute to them.
The the tournement itself was held on the Mauka (mountain-side) of the big pond in the middle of the resort and golf course, which eventually joins the ocean below the original Sheraton Hotel or Black Rock, as we call the area.
The original and last Fishing Tournament was held when my son to be 30 years old was under 11 years old.
While my Grand Daughter was a bit young, my 6 year old Grand Son scooped up on plenty of Tilapia Fish.
Neither one of them won a prize for their average size fish, but they had a great time that they will remember for years to come.
Many thanks to the fine volunteers from Maui Electric Company, Maui United Way and all the unnamed families and friends that devoted their time to make such a wonderful and memorable event on Maui and in Hawaii.
