Manao Radio's Acoustic Sunday Earth Day 2009 Earth Day Sunday the 19th, 2009 on Maui was home to a host of different activities and events. The music was happening everywhere from Baldwin Beach Park in Paia to Casanova's Restaurant in Makawao. The Brown Chicken Brown Cow String Band has been staying and playing around Maui for awhile now and incorporating their styles with the styles of Maui's local musicians. Always increasing their musical prowess. Today was one of their last shows on Maui before going to the mainland on tour. This performance was done as a benefit for Manao Radio 91.5 FM, Maui's own local Low Power Non-Profit radio station. They can be heard on the web at www.ManaoRadio.com 24/7. While enjoying all the music that was offered that day I recorded there sessions and they can be seen here on EmpowerMaui.com. Besides having Hutch Hutchinson sitting in on bass guitar, they also had Maui's own Pat Simmons of Doobie Brothers fame and Steve Sargenti sat in with his harmonica. Following the Brown Chicken Brown Cow String Band was the Erin Smith Band. Erin Smith rocked the house and while I wasn't able to stay the whole set, I did manage to get some pretty good videos of her and her band's performance. If we could turn music into energy, these two bands could definitely power Maui Sustainably. Enjoy! Brown Chicken Brown Cow String Band Maui 1 Â
